Magical Nepal

Nepal (the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal) is a country situated between China and India, in the central part of the Himalayas. Over 80% of the country's surface is covered by mountains with an average altitude of 6,000 above sea level. Magic is the entirety of beliefs and practices based on the conviction of the existence of supernatural forces that can be controlled using appropriate spells and specific actions. In the photographs brought back from the expedition, I wanted to convey the magic of this corner of the Earth. I show people who are neither smiling nor sad. They are serious and beautiful, like the Himalayas reflected in their eyes. The simplicity of the Nepalese life—work directly related to the land, cultivation, and husbandry. This life is conditioned by the forces of nature, and the landscape, though beautiful, demands extraordinary fortitude. It paints landscapes before us that inspire delight, yet simultaneously respect, contemplation, and calm.

Like a true photography wizard, it guides the viewer into contemplation and allows one to stop for a moment, to immerse oneself in another dimension. It doesn't cast a spell, it merely charms with the transparency of emotions, the simplicity of the message, and peace. For a moment, I was able to become a part of this place.
