Jewellery of the Nomads of Central Asia

For many years, Galeria YES has hosted exceptional exhibitions that allow us to pause for a moment and immerse ourselves in the world of culture and craftsmanship. One of these was a presentation of ethnic jewellery from Central Asia from my personal collection, born out of my fascination with travels to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.
The ornaments from this region, crafted with passion from silver and white metals, accompanied women throughout their lives. They were not only everyday adornments but also symbols of strength, stories of status and tradition, and protection against the unseen.
Massive forms, nature-inspired motifs, and stones such as carnelian and lapis lazuli pulsed with color and history, carrying a sense of security that was passed down through generations.
The exhibition was complemented by photographs from my travels to Turkmenistan, adding deeper context and allowing visitors to feel the unique atmosphere of the region.
It was a time full of emotion and discovery, a moment to connect with the heritage of the nomads, which still lives on in stories, objects, and human memory.
I warmly invite you to watch a short film about this extraordinary jewellery.
